Social Justice doesn't have only one definition. People will all express differently about what social justice means to them but they will all relate. Social justice to me means a lot. When I hear the word social I think about my community the society I live in. When I hear justice i think about all people having their rights no matter what race, sexuality they’re or if there are rich or poor.
When we try to achieve for social justice we all go through some struggles that we face in order to achieve what we want. Many people say that all the good things you get in life you don't just get them, you have to fight for them. Many people will put you down and make you believe that you will not achieve in many things. For example I myself feel that at times I don't get as many opportunities as many other students just because I wasn't born here. I strongly believe that just because I am not citizen it does not make me less than anyone else. This is where I bring social justice to this issue because I know I am not the only person who might feel with less opportunities that anyone else. We have to fight to get justice and i feel that social justice should be important to everyone. We don’t all have the same struggle but we all struggle in many different ways. When I first came into my school Social Justice my classmates and I experience going through the struggle of how they were trying to take away our AP classes. We were barely freshman's and did not have any AP classes yet, but it stood out to me how the whole school cared about how we weren't going to have those classes even though it was the last year for some students they cared about the rest of us. This made me feel that this wasn't just going to be a school but it was also going to be like a home to me. Social Justice is a place where i can actually express myself and actually be heard. |
