If you were to ask anyone that lives in Chicago if their is a problem with child hunger many would say no or that they aren't sure. The reason for this is because we are not aware of these type of issues. In reality Chicago does have the issue of child hunger “in the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s service area – Cook County – nearly 800,000 individuals are food insecure, not knowing when or where their next meal will be”. This is a great number of people who have this issue. This might include adults but there's still some children who are also involved in this great number of people of Chicago who are food insecure. We need to be able to do something to help this people out because if we don't these people will suffer from any disease from not getting the nutrition they need. We can inform about food drives where kids can get a meal so they won't suffer from hunger. Eating is the most important thing to do because “malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60 percent of the deaths”. If we think about this number of how many deaths their is it is actually a big number it's more than half. We need to be able to do something to prevent this but first we need everyone in the community to be aware of this issue.
In my neighbourhood we have a big issue of gang violence that keeps increasing but it also makes us not pay attention to other things that are happening around us for example child hunger. Their is many kids that do not have families and have no way of them getting their everyday meal. We as a community need to get together and be able to do something about it. Their is some places like churches where they give out free food, vegetables, can food, and many things that would help, but people don't know about these places or know where their is one. We need to be able to help them out find these places because they need food just like everyone does and we need to think about these people who are not able to get food do to the fact that they don't have as much money to get it. |
